Just to throw a spanner in the works - listen to a German say Bimmer. Sounds alot like beamer - whether you pronounce it bimmer or beamer you are right. But you WRITE it Bimmer.

I am from the east coast and I have never heard the term "Bimmer" as referred to a BMW.

Everyone here calls a BMW, a "BEAMER".

When you say "Bimmer", are you pronouncing it "BIMMER" or BEEMER?[???1][???1]

My brother, who lived in Germany for 8 years and introduced me to my first BIMMER said that ain't so, that the Germans he associated with called them Bimmers just like the proper Americans call them Bimmers. And like Kenny said;
